Realistic Pokemon: Flygon by ReneCampbellArt Realistic Pokemon: Flygon by ReneCampbellArt
I love Dragons so drawing Flygon was easy; I referenced house fly characteristics to help add that insect feel to Flygon without going overboard.

A few hours, Photoshop + Tablet. Now time to do Haxorus and Garchomp!

Quite the looker...but some thing about that eye doesn't look like it fits but it might just be my phone.

The actual eye is hidden behind the large pink sheath that Flygon has to protect it from dust (like a pair of goggles), so it is transparent, if that's what you mean :)

I know I didn't think you had included it...so maybe it was just my phone if you did include it....

It's wings should be a little bit bigger and wider in order to realistically support it's massive weight (at least as big as it's body, like the official Pokemon sketch), but other than that, it looks amazing!

The wings are actually more or less the same size as the one shown in the original anime drawing (which, under scrutiny, may not provide flight on their own. Wing beats per second, and other biological structures such as hollow bones also come into play).

Considering how this pokemon is in ONLY the bug egg group, this is probably the best realistic representation of it.

I don't base my interpretations on type or egg groups, but merely on its design. I've seen much more insectoid interpretations of Flygon that suggest it is fully an invertebrate and thus fits in the bug egg group better than mine. I depict it as half bug, half reptile, so-to-speak. Realistically, it would have it's own taxonomic class and thus an egg group of its own :)

Pictures like this makes me ask why isn't Flygon a Dragon/Bug type?
