Hi everyone, long time no speak, long time no draw.

Anyway, after long last, I'm excited to finally say that my Website, www.renecampbellart.com has officially launched! In addition, Commission inquiries are now open (three small-scale commissions available for commencement in March)!

About the Website
~~~
This Website will be a central hub for all my professional artistic and scientific work (although it will be mostly centralised around my art). Other important information, such as Commission availability and prices, Copyright statements, Terms of Use, Original artwork for sale and so on, can be accessed via this Site.
It has been a long-time coming, and proved to be a much more time-consuming process than I initially realised. After transferring from Wix to Squarespace, I found myself working with four different templates, each of which presented a variety of problems. While the templates themselves looked phenomenal and transitioned well to smaller devices, I couldn't satisfy the vision of my Website without additional coding, constantly editing and adding features and researching legal terminology. Working on my website became unmotivating and a chore at best. So much work was involved and I urge anyone who is creating their own Website to consider the time and effort required.
While it isn't a perfect Website, I am happy with the outcome and overall look. I've done many test-runs on all devices to ensure a smooth browsing process, ease of access and little errors with downloading or viewing particular components. If you have any constructive criticisms about the Website, or if particular parts of the Website aren't functioning as they should, please email me at renecampbellart@gmail.com, and I will do my best to improve the Site for your convenience.
Commission Information
~~~
Commission inquiries are open! Due to my immense schedule these next few months, I can't commence commissions until March, but feel free to enquire with me about your proposal during that time. I currently have three "small-scale" commission slots available (less than 10 hours work). Please know that I DO NOT take waiting lists, nor do I take commissions with strict deadlines.

For pricing details and examples, click here: www.renecampbellart.com/prices…

For Commission Terms & Conditions, click here: www.renecampbellart.com/commis…

For examples of Commission documents, click here: www.renecampbellart.com/client…

Artwork for Sale
~~~
Finally, I have four pieces of Original Artwork for sale. You can browse them here (framing optional): www.renecampbellart.com/origin…
~~~

For all inquiries, please send me a message (preferably to my Gmail account: renecampbellart@gmail.com)

~~~
Thank you all for visiting and I look forward to sharing more of my work with you all!
Cheers,
René
I've been a bit quieter recently, and it's been nearly 2.5 years since my last journal entry, thought I'd give everyone an update on where I'm at!
Firstly, thanks to all the new few followers and of course to my older followers and their continuing support. I will state again that art is not my primary job (and not 'officially' a job at all, yet); I am a marine biology research assistant in Adelaide, South Australia, and am hoping to commence my PhD this year. I started to get a bit quiet on DA, and the art realm in general, after working very hard to smash through my final undergraduate year and Honours year (which I smashed, by the way). It wasn't easy trying to deal with full-time University, casual bartending (done with Hospitality now, thank god), art and my personal life.
Both science and art are passions of mine, and it's a wondrous privilege to do both. However, since science is my primary career, that means time for artwork is not prioritised as much and I won't update as frequently compared to many other freelance artists.
Commissions are currently closed, and I expect commissions to be open in June. Important details regarding pricing, terms of conditions, etc. will also be released with this announcement.
I am currently working on my website and domain name and hope to have it launched in the next few weeks. It will feature as a central hub for my artwork, along with my scientific endeavors. My website will also contain very useful information such as my art and science CVs, commission pricing details, commission terms of conditions, artworks for sale and their corresponding conditions, an updated FAQ, and an in-depth document stating how and where my artwork can be used (copyright, plagiarism, licencing, etc.). It will also feature a comprehensive portfolio of my work, a detailed biography, and contact details (including all social media accounts).
I'm also hoping to update my signatures and watermarks on all my pieces, add more products to my Society6 shop, and even open an Etsy to sell original works. Other future projects include opening a YouTube channel showing my art progress, attending more exhibitions and planning a solo exhibition in general (got a great theme already planned) and various other things.
So overall, I'm quite busy this next month or so but look forward to finally, FINALLY, getting stuff done on a very old art checklist of mine. Once again, thanks to everyone for their patience!
A follower of mine recently suggested that I upload my artwork at Tallenge.com. I'm not very fond of competitions because I feel very inadequate compared to most entries or that my chances of winning are too low. I decided to give it a shot so since I saw a few others enter and thought, 'why not?' Therefore I'd humbly appreciate it if you could spare a vote for my piece The Colours Fade by clicking this link or the image below. Thankyou all!
Hey guys, so I got Society6 up and running! I'm in the process of adding more to it, since I didn't save my images large enough the first time, so it would be super duper awesome if you guys took a look, followed and promoted my work and maybe even bought things to help me out!
I logged on this morning and saw hardly any messages; a few hours later I saw hundreds. At first I had no clue why, when I first uploaded my Dreamer and Observer piece, hundreds of messages flooded my inbox, but niether had a DD.
Well, thanks to  the suggestion by TelariMoira and the feature by oilsoaked, I can gladly say I've lost my DD virginity. Thanks everyone for the comments, favourites and watches. I tend not to upload much on DA because I feel I'm not recognised well here, but that may be starting to turn around. Thanks for the support guys!
If you want to see me in a much more active environment, follow my Art Blog here. It's highly appreciated and I'd love to follow all you creative types out there. Thanks again guys, happy drawing!
My Dreamer picture seems to have got a surprisingly large amount of feedback and love; I don't really know how as it's not a Daily Deviation or anything :O But thankyou all for the feedback! It's motivated me to try out more abstract animals in the future :D
Also, I have an Art Tumblr and now a Facebook page if anyone wants to follow/like me. It would be much appreciated! :3
Keep on drawing guys!
Ugh, I don't even know where to begin. But I suppose it makes sense to start off with art stuff.
My art is going great, and also horribly wrong. My motivational and inspirational spans to finish pictures are just so short fused, and I really can't be bothered or don't believe in myself to finish any art. I see all the fantastic artists here and in the outside world and I aspire so much to be like them, but right now I can't even bring myself to try. Heck, I'm not even doing art in university next year, mostly because I've been told I should pursue science instead. It makes sense thought, because really, the way I'm going with my art work, it's just not worth doing that for 3-4 years.
I've started commission work, kinda.' So far it's been traditonal portrait paintings, logo designs and tattoo designs. These mediums and subjects aren't my greatest strength, and although it's helping me improve, it's adding onto my stress.
Speaking of stress, this is my last year of high school, Year 12. Last year was more stressful but right now all the last minute assignments are flooding in and it's just started to feel over whelming. I only have two exams, but even the thought of those make me break a sweat. I have to get my uni preferences in, I have to find a job, which I'm certain, will only add to my stress fest. I also need my driver's license, which I still don't have unlike nearly everyone else in my year. And after school is finished, I don't think I will go to Schoolies festival, ecause it's too expensive and I've left it too late. So the best year of my life, has been a real downer.
Ultimately though, it's just this self doubt that I feel all the time. Being told I'm not good enough, being told art's not a real job etc. I try to ignore it but the reality is, I'll probably need more luck than talent to make it anywhere with art. I feel like giving up on my dream. I have a concept art workshop in the last week of holidays and I'm beginning to wonder why I should bother.
I make no effort on here either. I hardly ever update, and I hardly ever communicate with any other users or even comment on art work. And yet I sit here expecting a bit more from DA, but truth is, I'm the one not putting in effort. I just have this feeling of going on a long hiatus, and trying to pump out some impressive work, before making a new DA, with a subscription, and starting fresh.
A lot of you won't care, and many of you probably didn't read the first line. If you've got this far, thankyou for reading all my useless shit. I'm not looking for anyone's sympathy, just a place to vent (don't say Tumblr either).
Thanks guys, happy drawing and whatnot.
I think I'm getting a bit over DA. I submit, and make more art, for my tumblr now than what I do for here. I hardly check it, I don't even view anyone's art anymore, I just clear everything in my message box and leave it as that.
I really want to improve my art; I'm trying styles and subjects I wouldn't normally, and then I think when I've improved, I will open comissions and prints. But right now, DA isn't doing much for me, so don't expect too much art from me in the future.
I'm not leaving, just a loooong hiatus. Life is busy and I hardly have time to draw as it is. I want to start fresh, again, but not right now. Sorry for the soppyness ;__;
Edit! It's working now, in both Photoshops! Just had to un-instal it then re-install and it was fine XD
Dam straight! I got one! And it comes with much more updated programs for me. I've now switched from Elements 3.0, to 7.0.
BUT!
I have an issue. I use windows XP Home Edition, and I have a feeling that whilst my Tablet is compatible with such low standards (because it works) Photoshop is not. Photoshop works, my tablet works, but just, not together. Not even my little Graphire 4 works with Elements 7. And when I mean don't work I mean the brushes aren't pressure sensitive at all. I got these together, brand new, and it's installed properly, and all the brush dynamics are right. I just hate drawing a thick, unpressurised line. I've installed drivers, I've re installed everything twice, I even removed Elements 3. And nope, I still might as well use a mouse.
Any help would be great? I think moving to Windows 7 and actually catching up with everyone could be a good start... ):
I'm so sad. Now I can't finish my drawings.
Edit! The 6K Kiriban was missed, but I really need something to draw. Yet, since I'm lacking motivation to draw stuff for myself, I've decided to change the Kiriban from 6.5K, to 6.1K. Everytime it's missed, I'll just move it up an extra 100 pageviews. For now, the Kiriban is at 6,100 views :3
Anyway, I'm a bit lazy on DA. I don't do much, but submit every now and again. Looking at my previous journals, apparently I was hosting a 5.5K kiriban, which has clearly been missed. So, I'm holding my next one at 6.1K (6,100 page views). I know I've left it at relatively late notice, but I don't get many pageviews a day, so it should be fine :)
If you're new to kiribans, or not quite sure how this works, be the first to catch my 6,100 page views, and I will draw you a picture of your choice (it won't be an overly detailed picture, considering it's such a low kiriban ;___; ).
If you've got the 6.1K, print screen and send me the screen shot, with proof that it's you signed into your account and that it's dead set on 6,100 views. If two or more managed to capture my kiriban with evidence to support this, regardless on the time and how many seconds they got it before the others, I will draw names out of a hat to decide the winner at random.
If you've already caught a kiriban of mine before, you can't participate again, even if you did catch my 6.1K. If no one catches this kiriban, I will move the pageviews up to 6.2K, and so on (every 100 until the kiriban is caught). Seriously though guys, I need something to draw, so this will give me something to do considering I'm on holidays.
Been so long since I updated my journal. BUT! I am happy to say year 12 Art has concluded for me, except I still have the exam to go (Plus other subjects). At least that's a weight off my shoulders <:3 I finish school in 3 weeks, which means more art shall be posted!
Finally... >.>
Life has been busy. School has destroyed my wellbeing, plus I need a job, and my P Plates, because I'm lazy. But I promise to become more active soon =3
I've noticed recently, not only with myself, but with other artists here, that comments, even favourites, for everything, are at an all time low.
It's like we're posting art just for the sake of putting it on the net. Well, it feels like that for me anyway .___.;
So yeah, what's going on? Are we all too lazy to comment or even fave nowadays? But then again I'm no different. I find that 'X' button in my messages compartment wayyyy too convenient. Perhaps everyone's feeling a little that way...
Maybe school's making my brain a bit mushed. Yeah...
EDIT! Sadly my 5K kiriban was missed, so I've extended it to 5.5K (5,500). Read below for details
Well since I've become a bit more active recently, I've decided to hold my next Kiriban, which will be at 5.5K (5,500 views):D
If you're not sure how this works, be the first to catch my 5,500 page views, and I will draw you a picture of your choice (my kiriban won't be overly detailed, as it's only 5.5K, and being busy with school at the moment, it may be rather delayed).
If you've got the 5.5K, print screen and send me the screen shot, with proof that it's you signed into your account and that it's dead set on 5,500 views. If two or more managed to capture my kiriban with evidence to support this, regardless on the time and how many seconds they got it before the others, I will draw names out of a hat to decide the winner at random.
Yeah so, currently, where I am, Christmas hits tomorrow. Of course some people have celebrated today, but w/e. I just want to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone :3
Working on art, but with birthday, New Years, my bro moving out and Cairns coming up I'm not sure what I will fit in.
On another more ranty note, probs due to my tiredness, I'd have to say I'm well over Christmas this year. Yes, I've matured, but this year, since the economical downfall, I don't think I've seen the shops so busy in my life. I also don't think I've seen anyone so stressed in my life, or just so over it the moment they started playing carols over 2 months ago....
Usually I find it somewhat exciting, but this year, and for so many people, it was kinda' just a big toss over. But I won't let that damper our X-mas spirits. Again, maybe in advance for some of you, or belated for others, Merry Christmas! :)
By the way, Avatar in 3D = AMAZING!
Yerrppp...just another journal about Avatar. You've quite possibly seen these a bajillion times but yes, it's that fucking amazing! O:
Ok...so I saw it...December 17; two or so days ago, when it first came out in Australia. Me and boyfriend saw it in normal, however my other friends saw it in 3D, and apparently that's amazing ;___; Oh wells, it's that gooda' movie I will defs see it another two or so times...so I ain't complaining ;)
Sides' the point...
This movie...is by far my most favourite movie of all time. Just over 2 months ago I saw the ad for it...and instantly fell in love. I told myself I will see it the day it came out. That was my time and money well spent.
The storyline, the sound effects, special effects, the visuals, characters..EVERYTHING! is just beyond stunning! I've imagined a world like that similar to what James Cameron created here so I could only relate..but far out.
Jizz worthy.
If you ain't seen it...go see it. If you have..go see it again. If you're thinking about it...stop thinking and just buy the ticket.
And if you're a hater...you'll eat your words and take it all back when you go see it. That's right, you should see it to.
Bloody. AMAZING! :heart:
Cudos to you, James Cameron! Amen...
My comp's hard drive got taken out, and fitted with a better one. So whilst I've been re-installing everything, our other hard drive is getting fixed and it's contents put on disks. The people fixing it (family friends) are away for a few weeks, and that hard drive had everything of mine on it. Although I've had most of my files etc. on my USB initially, and put back on this computer, several pictures I was working on are still on the other hard drive. -_____-;; *brick*
Who knows? I might not get them back...
I still have those same photoshop files on my USB of the WIPs I was doing, but they were saved ages ago so there's hardly no progress on them. I think I'll wait until my hard drive retunrs....hopefully D:
So no art..again. In the meantime, I'll finish the rest of my requests and start some newer things to pass the time.
