Hi everyone, long time no speak, long time no draw.
Anyway, after long last, I'm excited to finally say that my Website, www.renecampbellart.com has officially launched! In addition, Commission inquiries are now open (three small-scale commissions available for commencement in March)!
About the Website
~~~
This Website will be a central hub for all my professional artistic and scientific work (although it will be mostly centralised around my art). Other important information, such as Commission availability and prices, Copyright statements, Terms of Use, Original artwork for sale and so on, can be accessed via this Site.
It has been a long-time coming, and proved to be a much more time-consuming process than I initially realised. After transferring from Wix to Squarespace, I found myself working with four different templates, each of which presented a variety of problems. While the templates themselves looked phenomenal and transitioned well to smaller devices, I couldn't satisfy the vision of my Website without additional coding, constantly editing and adding features and researching legal terminology. Working on my website became unmotivating and a chore at best. So much work was involved and I urge anyone who is creating their own Website to consider the time and effort required.
While it isn't a perfect Website, I am happy with the outcome and overall look. I've done many test-runs on all devices to ensure a smooth browsing process, ease of access and little errors with downloading or viewing particular components. If you have any constructive criticisms about the Website, or if particular parts of the Website aren't functioning as they should, please email me at renecampbellart@gmail.com, and I will do my best to improve the Site for your convenience.
Commission Information
~~~
Commission inquiries are open! Due to my immense schedule these next few months, I can't commence commissions until March, but feel free to enquire with me about your proposal during that time. I currently have three "small-scale" commission slots available (less than 10 hours work). Please know that I DO NOT take waiting lists, nor do I take commissions with strict deadlines.

Thank you all for visiting and I look forward to sharing more of my work with you all!
Cheers,
René
I've been a bit quieter recently, and it's been nearly 2.5 years since my last journal entry, thought I'd give everyone an update on where I'm at!
Firstly, thanks to all the new few followers and of course to my older followers and their continuing support. I will state again that art is not my primary job (and not 'officially' a job at all, yet); I am a marine biology research assistant in Adelaide, South Australia, and am hoping to commence my PhD this year. I started to get a bit quiet on DA, and the art realm in general, after working very hard to smash through my final undergraduate year and Honours year (which I smashed, by the way). It wasn't easy trying to deal with full-time University, casual bartending (done with Hospitality now, thank god), art and my personal life.
Both science and art are passions of mine, and it's a wondrous privilege to do both. However, since science is my primary career, that means time for artwork is not prioritised as much and I won't update as frequently compared to many other freelance artists.
Commissions are currently closed, and I expect commissions to be open in June. Important details regarding pricing, terms of conditions, etc. will also be released with this announcement.
I am currently working on my website and domain name and hope to have it launched in the next few weeks. It will feature as a central hub for my artwork, along with my scientific endeavors. My website will also contain very useful information such as my art and science CVs, commission pricing details, commission terms of conditions, artworks for sale and their corresponding conditions, an updated FAQ, and an in-depth document stating how and where my artwork can be used (copyright, plagiarism, licencing, etc.). It will also feature a comprehensive portfolio of my work, a detailed biography, and contact details (including all social media accounts).
I'm also hoping to update my signatures and watermarks on all my pieces, add more products to my Society6 shop, and even open an Etsy to sell original works. Other future projects include opening a YouTube channel showing my art progress, attending more exhibitions and planning a solo exhibition in general (got a great theme already planned) and various other things.
So overall, I'm quite busy this next month or so but look forward to finally, FINALLY, getting stuff done on a very old art checklist of mine. Once again, thanks to everyone for their patience!
